MY VIEW ABOUT GOSPEL ARTISTES -Pastor Joe Jesimiel Ogbe

I used to go on missions with one of my great gospel artists those days and he asked me if it was proper to negotiate for his pay before performance. And I answered him bluntly: “If you are in gospel ministry via your music don’t charge, but if you are in business via your music charge. Strike a deal before you perform.” Ministry is different from business. God takes care of you!
But the issue here is that many churches don’t place value on the anointing of music ministers to celebrate them with befitting honorarium. How can you invite someone and give the person a peanut. These young talents need to survive. They need to pay their bills. It pains me to see many of them drifting off to the world. I think we should emulate churches like Christ Embassy and House on the Rock, as they celebrate great talents within the body of Christ. If we know that we cannot give them surviving fee, let us not invite them to our churches. New and budding churches should make do with talents in house. To invite well-known talents can be very expensive!
