Drama as church is to pay for injuries sustained at a crusade



A lady by the name Tamara Egbedi on January 22,2010 attended The chapel of liberty’s crusade held at the national stadium, surulere, Lagos. She was rushed out of the venue after sustaining injuries that would cost her #2.4million. It was gathered that she fell headlong into an open concrete gutter. 
Justice Samuel Candice – Johnson of the family and probate division of high Court of Lagos, ikeja stated that The chapel of liberty and its presiding pastor Rev Chris kwakpovwe are liable for the injuries sustained by Egbedi due to negligence and failure to discharge their duty of care. The judge ordered the sum of 9.45million be paid to the claimant. This judgment comes as a stern warning to various organisers of religious and social events with likely huge crowd to put safety measures in place.
